About

My experience in news and professional leadership

I have seven years of experience in media through the independent tribal journalism outlet Mvskoke Media and over four years of experience in nonprofit journalism advocacy through the Native American Journalists Association/Indigenous Journalists Association.

From the tribe, I have five years supervisory experience through the Muscogee News and two years management experience helping run a news team and overseeing the business arm of Mvskoke Media.

I reformed that department to fit the drastic new mission of free press and independence at the tribe by clearly defining and enforcing rules and roles.

During my time with NAJA/IJA, I served as acting executive director for six months, overseeing a relatively new staff and annual conference contractors, all during a time of turnover or shortage in key roles with the staff and governing board during the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic.

I am prepared to lead or work in an exceptional capacity with a news or nonprofit outlet.

I am excited to contribute my direct professional and media skills, as well as my ability to recognize, coordinate and develop talent for an effective and competent team and organization.
